Did you know that we’re gearing up for our biggest tour yet with the largest group of performers? We need to raise money for the start up costs for food, supplies, gas and lodging. Because we are a diverse group of folks, we are cooking up a variety of ways for fans, friends, and strangers to help us launch the tour in style and fund our rent for our 4th Annual All New Show in Cambridge October 7 and 8! Just for starters:
Kickstarter: (the easiest way to donate!)
Kickstarter is an amazing community based way for artists to raise funds. Here’s how it works: We offer you, our fans and supporters, fun goodies in exchange for your donation starting at the 5-dollar level. We have until August 14 to raise $600 to support the tour and our fall rent at the YMCA. If we reach our goal, your credit or debit card is charged for the donation, we get $600, and you get cool stuff. If we don’t reach our goal, no money changes hands.
We’re offering signed postcards, hand-silk screened limited edition posters, pasties and fascinators made just for you by Femme Show cast members, t-shirts, show tickets and more. See all the goodies and learn more about our campaign here.
Lap Dance!
You can bid on a lap dance from the Fabulous Johnny Blazes and other TraniWreck stars at TraniWreck: Gold on Friday, July 16 (details here).
Tea Party!
Lap dances aren’t really Beatrice’s thing, so SPPSSM would like to offer you another opportunity to enjoy fine company while supporting the Femme Show.
Miss Phyllis Troubridge and Miss Beatrice Llewellyn
on behalf of
the Society for the Preservation and Promotion of Sapphic Social Mores (SPPSSM)
cordially invite you to
An Evening of Tea and Entertainment
to benefit The Femme Show’s Summer Tour
Wednesday July 28 6:00-10:00 PM
7 Carolina Avenue, Apt. 3, Jamaica Plain
admission ten dollars
Featuring Q&A with SPPSSM, mix and mingle, light refreshments and other festivities.
We invite you to join us following a day spent at your place of employment, or stop by later in the evening as you please.

Hey, this is cool. Apparently we were part of a trend that’s ending a drought of women touring to Staten Island. We might not all be women but we’re happy to advance the cause!

We had a great time at Snug Underground! Many thanks to Gena and the Snug Underground Festival for hosting us at the only venue we’ve ever performed at that has a giant preying mantis in the backyard.
Gena, Steve, Ezra and Gayle are proud to be High Maintenance! Read the rest of this entry »

We are getting ready to head out to the Snug Underground Festival in Staten Island. And by “getting ready” I mean counting t-shirts, sewing new bras, making pom-poms, visiting staples, and trying to fit my nasty old ankle wrap into a four inch ankle strap heel. And that’s just me. Across town M. Hanora is rolling around with a cinder block and Rachel is curating our collection of beer bottles and pizza boxes. As for the rest of the crew, I know only what twitter tells me…. Read an article about the festival, including an interview with yours truly here.

This year’s mini tour was off to a great start when we left Somerville almost on schedule in our big old SUV with the fifth box on top. We had a tasty, healthy, culturally appropriative lunch in Nyack, and then there was traffic. All the way to Philadelphia, an hour and a half late. Thank goodness the folks at the Rotunda were chill and helpful.
On this trip:
1. Maggie made peace with the GPS.
2. We had birthday peach pie made by some Amish.
3. We ate yellow watermelon.
4. We learned that Ace of Cakes will not let just anyone in.
5. Maggie finished a pair of socks while trying not to freak out about being late.
Photos and more….. Read the rest of this entry »

Here’s a great story from the Philadelphia City Paper. It’s an interview with yours truly. As if you, my loyal blog readers, didn’t know too much about me already.
