Femmes Take Staten Island
We had a great time at Snug Underground! Many thanks to Gena and the Snug Underground Festival for hosting us at the only venue we’ve ever performed at that has a giant preying mantis in the backyard.
Gena, Steve, Ezra and Gayle are proud to be High Maintenance!
We spent our down time on Saturday engaging in key tour activities: eating, sleeping, sightseeing, and shopping. Karin and Gingerita went to go be cultured at the Tim Burton exhibit at MOMA and the rest of us split up between Bent Pages and Re/Dress. Re/Dress is a size 14+ vintage and resale store in Brooklyn. From what I heard, they had an awesome time. It sounds like a really special place and I hope some of the folks who went will tell you more about it here soon.
Bent Pages is an amazing LGBTQ bookstore, the only one in New York City! It’s about the size of a large bathroom and it’s a queer book worm’s dream. They have some amazing collecters items as well as a good selection of ficition and non-fiction. I am really excited to read this, but I also got a Naiad Press copy of Beebo Brinker and some tacky ballerina art. But the best find was Sweet Licking Stewardesses:

Amy and Karin shop for artificial vaginas. I guess that’s in case you can’t afford a blow-up doll.

These are not so good for my sprained ankle, but the show must go on.

What’s that spell? FATTIE!

When do we go on?
