Tell us about your first Femme Show
The success of the first show was a total shock to me. My goal was to sell about 80 tickets – that would have been enough to break even and replenish my savings. Instead we sold something like 300 and ran out of seats, toilet paper, and programs.
What have you been up to since October?
I went back to my roots in classical ballet and danced in the Urban Nutcracker, with pink tights and everything. I was taking ballet class almost every day and putting my feet in buckets of ice almost every night. I put on tons of muscle and ate like a horse. In between I tried to occasionally check femme show email and book some shows. Then a few weeks ago I stepped of a step wrong and twisted my ankle so I am resting my body and getting ready to make this an awesome year for the Femme Show!
What makes the Femme Show so important?
We are bringing to the forefront some gender issues that don’t get talked about enough. Our inclusive stance is one of our best assets, because it means that we can explore femme and femininity from many different angles.
