Femme Favorites: Ankle Straps
The sexy, sweet straps not only make my legs look longer and (hopefully) inspire thoughts of ankle restraints, they also make walking so much easier!
In the midst of an awful week last week, I stopped at Payless for the only kind of “retail therapy” I can afford. I tried on an awesome grey pump with a big bow on the heel, but wobbled instantly. I realized that I can’t handle heels without an ankle strap. I love the aesthetic of straps that wrap around the ankle, and for a sweet casual look I like the character-shoe inspired look.
In the end i got these for 17 dollars.
There’s a collection called “Lela Rose for Payless” which includes awesome flats and heels and most of it is on sale.
I’m a heels in moderation girl – I can happily walk and dance in them for about 4 hours, maybe a little more. Three or three and a half inches is my limit. But when my day consists of femme show work in the morning, taking dance class, and then teaching dance class for up to six hours at a time, I am committed to comfy, slip on shoes for everyday. I wear ballet flats and sandals all summer and ugly, salt-stained merril clogs all winter. But for feeling sexy and confident, or for keeping my girl’s eyes on me all night, there’s nothing like heels.

i’m all about the payless shoes! (and cheap shoes in general)
there is a payless location on the corner less than 1/2 a block from our apartment so their window displays are constantly teasing me. i’m really in love with these shoes right now:

speaking of happy shoe moments- these beauties came in the mail for me last week! i saw them at target right before x-mas but there was no way i would pay full price for them…. i was thrilled when after holiday sales put them down to 50% off!!!

I love payless browsing. I can live with paying $17, I often lose out with rock bottom clearance because I wear such common sizes. I like those target shoes but I don’t like pointy toes.
Oh, and I think you need to login with the address and password you use to post, otherwise your comments have to be approved first. Or maybe the site doesn’t like you any more?

[...] Last week we talked about ankle strap high heels. In the category of “making heels walkable” I highly recommend these. It’s not a regular padded insole, it shifts your weight back onto your heels. They are made by Insolia and are about $10 at CVS, or you can get a 3-pack for $20 here. I have them in the shoes I wear for No Femmes Allowed and SPPSSM, and they made it possible for me to go from pointe shoes to heels and back during all those shows last year! [...]
