Big Queer Conference, Part 2

So, the conference. Totally overwhelming and way more exhausting than it should have been. After Friday’s performance we felt energized, but after Saturday we just felt tired. Even today in ballet class my calves felt tight from going from boots to two pointe shoes to pointe shoe/boot combo to high heels and back all weekend, plus all the walking on concrete and then rehearsing on Sunday.
We had a good turnout on Saturday, about 25 people. Of course, we were in a much bigger room on Saturday after having SRO in a smaller one on Friday. Havalah was smart enough to ask for chairs for the audience (we walked in to a huge empty space) and we got them. It was funny being in such a fancy space. The floor was good to dance on while I was upright, but falling hurt a lot! There must have been concrete under that nice wood.
A lot of the evaluations we got back from workshop participants said things like “I learned about the importance of being yourself, no matter what.†Now, the evaluation form prompted this by asking what they learned, but still.
