The Femme Show website was redesigned to be a living, breathing, entity. Ideally we’d love to see this community grow through increased participation from you! So, we promised it and here we are: The Femme Show is currently seeking submissions from Guest Bloggers to contribute material to be posted on the Femme Show Blog.
Some topics we would like to explore in features include: femme identity and all genders, femme and feminism, intersections of misogyny and heterosexism with other oppressions, femmes and femme identities in history, perspectives on femme identity from people who partner with femmes. We’re happy to publish anything from in-depth essays to casual musings on every day life. Cross-postings are welcome.
As always, you do not need to be femme, female, queer or lesbian identified to participate. Submissions will be reviewed by The Femme Show staff and we will contact you if your submission is accepted. Article submissions, in full or in abstract, should be submitted to submissions [at] thefemmeshow.com.

So, here’s a window into the strangeness that is my family.
Everyone in my family sleeps with stuffed animals. So it’s not strange in and of itself that, while we were blowing up my air mattress, my mom picked up a stuffed husky dog and said (as if it were the dog talking) “Hi. Can I sleep with you?” “Sure,” I said, “What’s your name?” The dog replied “Butch.” I sort of snorted and laughed in shock. “Um, is that really his name?” “No, I just thought you’d like to sleep with someone named butch.”
I really didn’t know what to say.
Between that incident and the long debate with my mom and dad about exactly when and how I came out, (depending on who you ask, it was September ‘97 or March ‘98) I am reminded of just how unique my family is. I love them, but I find myself internally, privately rolling my eyes a lot.
Oh, and I got to visit the Knights of Columbus Museum and world headquarters.

It’s a rainy Thursday and you’re at work, or somewhere else trying to get some work done. Don’t you feel like procrastinating? Go here to check out photos from our publicity photo shoot, exclusive backstage shots, and more!

This picture has almost nothing to do with the show, but it was a good time. Ariel was using my purse as a prop for her awesome bearded church lady character and found some gloves and condoms in there. (cause you should always be prepared for safer sex, kids!). Much hilarity ensued, with Ariel-the-church-lady chastising me and there were all kinds of hijinks on the South Street tennis courts at 10:00 in the morning.

Today we officially released The Femme Show Community Mailing List. After several hours of struggling to make forms and the blog play nicely together, we’ve gotten them to set aside their differences in order to allow you to sign up with (or unsubscribe from <sad face>) the Official Femme Show Community Mailing List.
Many of you are already a part of this mailing list, which will send you periodic news and announcements about The Femme Show and things happening on the site, but for those of you who haven’t joined yet, please visit the Subscription page to sign-up.
You can also visit the Privacy Policy to see how that information will and will not be used.
Also, in case you haven’t noticed it yet, you can continue your support of the Femme Show (in an off line fashion - literally) by taking home one of our Femme Show T-Shirts available in The Femme Show Cafe Press store! There are several different styles to fit every body type and gender identity. Pick one up today!
